BIOGRAPHY

Chaeyoung was born on 23 April 1999 in Dunchon-dong, Seoul, South Korea. Her family consists of her parents and her younger brother, Son Jeong-hoon. From a young age she showed great interest in the performing arts and even worked as a model for a children's magazine.
Determined to pursue a career in music, Chaeyoung took dance lessons for over a year before auditioning for JYP Entertainment. On 6 June 2012, at the age of 13, she passed the audition and became a trainee. After nearly three years of training, she took part in the survival show Sixteen in 2015 and was announced as a member of TWICE in the finale.
For her further education, Chaeyoung attended Hanlim Multi Art School and graduated on 11 February 2019 alongside fellow TWICE member Tzuyu.
TWICE

TWICE is a popular South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment. They officially debuted on 20 October 2015 with their first mini album “The Story Begins”. The group consists of nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu.
The long-established group has celebrated many successes in recent years. We've summarised the most important ones for you:
- Within five months of release, the music video for the title track "Like OOH-AHH" had been watched 50 million times. It was the most-viewed debut music video by a K-pop group. The video later even surpassed the 100 million mark.
- In 2016, the song "Cheer Up" became a massive hit and won "Song of the Year" at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA).
- In 2017, TWICE successfully debuted in Japan with the single "One More Time", which broke the record for the best-selling single by a K-pop girl group in Japan.
- In 2018, they held their first arena concert in Japan and released the Japanese album "BDZ", which reached number 1 on the Oricon Charts.
- In 2019, TWICE launched their world tour "TWICELIGHTS", which was a huge success and took them to cities all around the world.
- With the release of the singles "More & More" and "I CAN'T STOP ME", they achieved high chart rankings and cemented TWICE's status as a leading K-pop group.
- In 2021, they released their first English-language single "The Feels", which performed well on various international charts.
- In 2022, TWICE reached number 3 on the Billboard 200 with the album "Formula of Love: O+T=<3", their highest chart entry in the US.
- In 2023, TWICE released their twelfth mini album "Ready to Be" and announced their fifth world tour.

Chaeyoung is TWICE's second-youngest member.
Chaeyoung took part in the 2015 reality show Sixteen. She placed sixth out of nine available debut spots and joined the newly formed girl group TWICE as a rapper and singer. On 20 October 2015, TWICE officially debuted with their first EP "The Story Begins".
As part of the Melody Project format, Chaeyoung released covers of "Alone" by Cheeze and "Off My Face" by Justin Bieber. In 2022, she began playing guitar to prepare for a possible solo debut. She later performed the previously unreleased solo song "My Guitar" during TWICE's "Ready to Be World Tour". In October 2023, she collaborated with pop duo Coco & Clair Clair on a remix of their song "Pop Star".
In 2020, Chaeyoung's private phone number was leaked on social media. JYP Entertainment released an official statement on the matter, and Chaeyoung addressed the incident directly on TWICE's Instagram page.
On 5 April 2024, JYP Entertainment confirmed that Chaeyoung was in a relationship with rapper Zion.T.

In September 2023, Chaeyoung was announced as Japan ambassador for the Italian luxury fashion house Etro. Her unique style, artistic personality, and bold fashion choices made her the perfect fit for the brand, allowing her to express her individuality through Etro's designs.
Just two months later, in November 2023, she was also chosen as brand muse for the Japanese cosmetics brand CipiCipi.
