Wonder Girls were the first girl group from JYP Entertainment; one of the label's earliest big successes. They debuted in 2007 and set new milestones in the Korean music industry! By now, all of the members are pursuing solo careers. One of them is releasing her first solo album on July 26!
As of today, you can pre-order “Genuine” by Sunye here!
Wonder Girls were the first Korean group to place on the American Billboard Hot 100 charts, and in 2009 they even went on tour with the Jonas Brothers. Their hit “Nobody” is probably known even by many newer fans! The group officially disbanded in 2017. All members but one have since started their own singing careers, some of them while Wonder Girls were still active. Hyuna and Sunmi in particular still dominate the charts today!
With Sunye, the eighth and last former member of Wonder Girls will soon release her first solo album too!
Sunye stopped her activities with Wonder Girls in 2013 to get married and had her first daughter that same year. In 2014, after recording a few soundtracks and taking part in collaborations, Sunye announced that she would leave the entertainment industry. After four long years, during which she had two more daughters, the singer announced her return, but it wasn't until 2021 that she actually stood on stage again. Together with six other idols who are mothers like her, she released the digital single “WooAh HIP” as part of the reality show “Mama the Idol”.
Now, another year and a bit later, Sunye is finally making her solo debut!
Genuine

A few hours ago, the first teaser was released; a slightly blurry photo of Sunye looking into the camera over her shoulder. The teaser reveals that the title track of the album will be called “Glass Heart” and will be released as early as July 19. The album is titled “Genuine” and will be released a good week later, on July 26.
Compared to the K-Pop albums that are common these days, it is rather simple. Buyers get a 52-page photo book, a folded poster and of course a CD. But it's precisely this simplicity that makes the album's charm: it's all about the music, and the singer's fans can finally add a solo album to their collection after so many years. We're excited about the new music! Since “Glass Heart” is coming out in less than a week, we won't have to wait long for the first taste either!
