BTS has been on stage for almost 10 years now and has broken countless records in that time. You might think there's no more room to grow, but the guys keep reaching new heights again and again! And not just as a group, but also solo:
Today, Jimin became the first Korean solo artist ever to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart!
With this, he breaks the long-standing record of PSY, who reached number 2 in 2012 with Gangnam Style. And the song that brought Jimin this success is of course “Like Crazy”, the title track of his first solo album FACE!
Jimin is not only the first BTS member to top the Hot 100 on his own, but also the first of them to even make it into the top 20. BTS as a group has topped the chart several times; among others with “Butter”, “Dynamite” or “Life Goes On”. We are proud to see that not only the group, but also the individual members are exceeding fans' expectations and conquering all the charts.
Because the other members have also set various records with their solo releases:
For example, RM reached number 3 on the Billboard 200 chart with Indigo. No other Korean solo artist has ever made it that high on the chart!
And according to Hanteo, Jin sold 700,000 copies of his single album “Astronaut” on the first day after its release, more than any solo artist before. This record was only recently broken by Jimin himself, because on the first day FACE sold more than a million copies!
It's probably only a matter of time until Jimin and his bandmates break a new record. Suga is probably next, because the rapper has already announced his first solo album “D-Day”. We're keeping our fingers firmly crossed for him!
