As we all know, Kep1er is a project group whose end was set from the very beginning. The girl group was formed on the survival show “Girls Planet 999” and signed a contract for two and a half years. Afterwards, the members are supposed to return to their respective agencies. Those two and a half years are now over. On June 3, the new and probably last Kep1er album “Kep1going On” will be released.
So we should enjoy it all the more!
WHAT YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO:
So far, Kep1er has released a logo video, a schedule poster and details about the physical album. “Kep1going” is something very special for fans, because it is Kep1er’s first Korean full album.
Right now you can pre-order two versions from us: the bright SCENE and the dark NOUS version.
Both contain an 84-page photo book, a CD with a sleeve, a folded poster and several small extras. Every buyer gets one of nine possible postcards, two of 18 photo cards and one of nine lenticular cards. So you can look forward to several surprises right away! We are of course keeping our fingers crossed that you get a card of your bias!
We don’t know exactly yet what the versions will look like, because the concept photos won’t be released until the end of May. But there is already a clearly visible difference between the two versions: The SCENE version additionally includes a flower ring. In the NOUS version, you will find a guarantee card instead.
Will there be another version?
We took a closer look at the schedule on Twitter and discovered something interesting. On May 27 and 28, concept photos for the “Voyage Ver.” are set to be released. We assume that this is a completely new version that will be revealed by the end of May at the latest. Check Kep1er’s social media channels regularly so you don’t miss anything!
Is “Kep1going On” Kep1er’s last album?
For weeks now, rumors have been going around that Kep1er will release one last Korean album and then disband. The rumors of course don’t come out of nowhere, because more than 28 months have passed since Kep1er’s debut in January 2022. The girl group’s contract is only 30 months long. But Kep1er’s agency WAKEONE made it clear at the end of April that not everything is set in stone yet.
According to WAKEONE, positive negotiations are currently still ongoing with the individual members and their agencies in order to extend Kep1er’s activities.
However, this statement doesn’t give fans too much hope. Project groups have discussed contract extensions many times before, but in the end nothing usually came of it. This was also true for the extremely popular girl group IZ*ONE, which, like Kep1er, was formed on a survival show by Mnet. After IZ*ONE ended, fans even launched a campaign that raised over a million dollars to bring the girl group back together. Unfortunately, this project was unsuccessful as well.
The main reason is of course that all members come from different agencies and have different wishes. As long as not everyone agrees, it is unlikely that Kep1er or any other project group will stay together beyond the original contract period. “Kep1going” is therefore, with very high probability, Kep1er’s last album.
A look back at Kep1er’s discography:
Over the last two and a half years, the girl group has released five Korean albums and four Japanese albums.
Five mini albums were released in Korea:
The debut album “First Impact”, followed by “Doublast”, “Troubleshooter”, “Lovestruck!” and most recently “Magic Hour” in September 2023.
In September 2022, Kep1er also debuted in Japan with the single album “Fly-Up”.
That was no surprise, after all the girl group has two Japanese members: Hikaru and Mashiro. In 2023, Hikaru and the others presented two more Japanese single albums: “Fly-By” and “Fly-High”. A few days ago, Kep1er also released their first Japanese full album “Kep1going”.
To this day, First Impact is Kep1er’s best-selling album!
According to Hanteo, 396 thousand copies were sold (as of January 2024). Will the new album finally be able to break this record?
