Park Chaeyoung (박채영), better known by her stage name Rosé, is a South Korean singer, dancer and songwriter currently signed to The Black Label and Atlantic Records. She is best known as the main singer and lead dancer of the globally successful girl group Blackpink.
Rosé was born on February 11, 1997 in Auckland, New Zealand and moved to Melbourne, Australia at the age of seven. Her childhood in Australia helped her become fluent in English and Korean.
In 2012, at the age of 16, she attended a YG Entertainment audition in Australia and was selected as a trainee. Rosé took first place in the auditions, beating out 700 other contestants. On the same day, she was accepted as a trainee at YG Entertainment. This led to her moving to South Korea to begin her music career.
Less than six months after starting her traineeship, she was featured on G-Dragon's track “Without You”. After four years of intensive training, she was finally introduced as Blackpink's main singer and lead dancer. She was the last member of the band to be officially announced. On August 8, 2016, Rose debuted as a member of the four-member girl group Blackpink. The other three members of Blackpink are: Jisoo, Jennie and Lisa. The debut album “Square One” was a complete success: The singles - “Whistle” & “Boombayah” - topped both the Gaon Digital Chart and US Billboard's World Digital Songs Chart. Rosé is the second youngest member of Blackpink.

SOLO CAREER

Rosé made her solo debut on March 12, 2021 with her single album “-R-”, which contains the title track “On the Ground” and the B-side “Gone”. Fans quickly embraced Rosé's solo project, and "On the Ground" reached top chart positions worldwide, including the Billboard Global 200. The single album also broke records, becoming the best-selling release by a Korean solo artist at the time, with over 500,000 copies sold in its first month.
In December 2023, YG Entertainment confirmed that Rosé and the other members of Blackpink would continue their group activities under the label, but did not renew their individual contracts. In February 2024, Rosé announced her new partnership with The Black Label, ushering in a new chapter in her solo career. Shortly afterwards, she thrilled her fans with a teaser for a new song on Instagram, which quickly became a trending topic.

On October 18, 2024, Rosé released her first collaboration single “APT” with Bruno Mars. The track set numerous records, including the fastest K-pop solo music video premiere with 300 million views and over 270 perfect all-kills on South Korean charts. Additionally, the song reached No. 1 on the Japanese Hot 100 chart, becoming the fifth Western hit to do so and the first in over a decade. Rosé set new standards globally by becoming the first K-pop solo artist to reach 46.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
